Polyurethane mortar paint is a high-performance flooring material composed of a polyurethane resin and a special mortar (such as quartz sand and corundum). It combines chemical stability, physical strength, and environmental adaptability. Its core features are as follows:
1. Superior chemical resistance
It has excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, and solvents (such as alcohol, gasoline, and detergents). It can withstand long-term corrosion from industrial-grade chemicals without swelling, cracking, or flaking. It is an ideal choice for chemical plants, laboratories, and food processing plants (which require frequent cleaning and disinfection).
It can withstand brief contact with high-temperature (80-120°C) liquids (such as hot water and steam), making it suitable for environments requiring hot water washdowns or high-temperature operations (such as kitchens and breweries).
2. High Abrasion and Compressive Resistance
The mortar particles (such as quartz sand and corundum) are highly hard and, when combined with the polyurethane matrix, form a dense, hard coating. This coating offers far superior abrasion resistance to ordinary epoxy or polyurethane flooring, and can withstand frequent vehicle traffic, heavy objects (such as forklifts and racking), and pedestrian traffic, resulting in a service life of over 15 years.
The compressive strength exceeds 80 MPa, offering excellent impact resistance and resisting deformation from heavy impact or prolonged pressure.
3. Excellent Slip and Water Resistance
The mortar particles create a uniform, rough texture on the surface, providing a stable anti-slip effect in both dry and wet conditions. This is particularly suitable for humid environments (such as food factory wash areas, slaughterhouses, and underground garage ramps), significantly reducing the risk of slips.
The seamless coating, coupled with the inherent water resistance of polyurethane, effectively blocks moisture penetration, protecting the base layer (concrete) from moisture and preventing moisture resorption, thus preventing damage to the base layer that could impact the floor's lifespan. 4. High, Low, and Weather Resistance
It maintains stable performance in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 120°C and has strong resistance to freeze-thaw cycles (withstanding over 500 freeze-thaw cycles), making it suitable for extremely cold regions or environments with large temperature fluctuations (such as cold storage and outdoor transition zones).
It offers superior UV resistance compared to ordinary epoxy flooring. While more suitable for indoor use, some formulations can also be used in semi-outdoor settings. It is not susceptible to aging or fading due to sunlight.
5. Environmental Protection and Hygiene
Using a solvent-free or low-VOC (volatile organic compound) formula, it produces no irritating odor during application and use. Its hazardous substance content meets food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade standards (e.g., FDA-certified), making it suitable for locations with direct contact with food and pharmaceuticals (e.g., food processing plants and pharmaceutical cleanrooms).
The dense and smooth surface resists dirt and mold growth, and remains hygienic even after daily cleaning and disinfection (such as high-pressure water jets and chemical disinfection). 6. Strong Adhesion and Applicability
It has strong adhesion to substrates such as concrete, cement, and metal. A dedicated primer effectively penetrates the substrate, preventing hollowing and flaking. It is particularly suitable for renovation of older floors.
It can be applied over damp substrates (moisture content ≤ 10%), eliminating the need for prolonged drying and shortening the construction cycle. The coating thickness can be flexibly adjusted (typically 3-8mm) to accommodate even minor unevenness.
Applications
Due to its chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, anti-slip properties, and high and low temperature resistance, polyurethane mortar paint is widely used in locations with stringent floor performance requirements, such as food processing plants, beverage plants, slaughterhouses, chemical plants, pharmaceutical cleanrooms, cold storage, large kitchens, and underground garages (wet areas). It is a high-end choice for industrial and sanitary flooring.
